How to File 1099 in COUNT
Use COUNT’s built-in 1099 filing flow to review your vendors’ 1099 obligations and file forms directly with the IRS. COUNT automatically calculates eligible amounts and helps reduce the manual work typically involved in preparing 1099.
Before you start
Make sure the following are already set up in your workspace:
- 1099 boxes are mapped in Settings
- Vendors/contractors are created and marked for 1099 tracking.
- Bills or expense transactions are assigned to the correct vendor/contractor.

You’ll see a list of vendors and their calculated 1099 amounts by year. COUNT allows you to file for up to three years.

Select a vendor and year to file
- Find the vendor you want to file for.
- Click Start Filing for under the year you want to file for.

Review the filing details and choose a delivery method
After you click Start Filing, COUNT opens the filing details page for that vendor/year.
- Review the 1099 amount details to confirm the totals look correct.
- Choose how the vendor should receive their 1099.
- If needed, you can edit the payer, recipient, or delivery method by clicking Edit on this page.

Review filing cost
Before submitting, COUNT displays the cost of the 1099 filing based on delivery method and when you submit the filings.
- The price is shown per form.
- The total cost depends on:
- The delivery method selected (electronic delivery or USPS mail)
- The type of filing (for example, federal filing only or combined options, if available)
Filing Costs
Base filing cost: $2.99 + tax (per form)
Delivery Method Costs
You can choose how the vendor will receive their 1099. Each option has an additional cost:
Email 1099 to Vendor: $0.25 + tax
Mail 1099 to Vendor via USPS: $1.90 + tax
Validate payer and recipient details
- Click Validate in the top-right corner.

- A confirmation window will open where you can review and confirm the delivery method (Email or USPS). If needed, you can make changes here.
- Click Save & Validate to confirm and continue.

- If COUNT detects missing information, you’ll be prompted to update:
- Payer information (your business/workspace details)
- Recipient information (vendor or contractor details)
- Make sure all required fields are completed before continuing.
Submit the filing to the IRS
(Optional) You may also see a Verify TIN with IRS button. This step is not required. If you choose to use it, it will start a verification process with the IRS that can take up to 24 hours to complete.

Once validation is successful and no required information is missing:
- Click Submit Form to IRS.

- After you submit the form, the filing status will change to Submitted.
- This means your form has already been successfully sent to the IRS.
- At this point, you will see options like Download PDF and Verify TIN with IRS.
- The Verify TIN with IRS button is optional and does not affect the submission status. If you choose to use it, it will start a verification process that can take up to 24 hours.
- Even if you do not use the TIN verification option, your filing remains submitted and in process with the IRS.

COUNT will handle the submission directly with the IRS.
