Why is the COUNT sidebar reorganized?
You may have noticed the sidebar looks different. This isn't just a redesign — it's a new way of grouping things. Here's what changed and why.
The old way vs. the new way
Before, the sidebar was mostly organized by feature type — pages were grouped by what kind of record they held. Now, it's organized by workflow — pages are grouped by the job you're actually trying to get done. The goal is simple: when you're doing a task, everything you need for that task should be in one place, instead of spread across sections that happen to share a data type.

What's in each section now
- Sell — Invoices & Estimates, Customers, and Products & Services Everything involved in the process of getting paid by a customer lives together, from the products you sell to the people you bill.
- Spend — Bills to Pay, Expense Reports (Expense Claims in NZ), Receipts, Print Checks (US), and Vendors (Suppliers in NZ) This is the biggest shift. Vendor and supplier records used to sit off on their own, separate from the bills and expenses tied to them. Since managing vendors is really part of the process of paying them, they now sit right next to Bills to Pay — everything about money going out is in one workspace.
- Banking — Transactions, Reconciliation (Bank Statement Audit in NZ), and Accounts & Connections This is a brand-new section. Reconciliation and transaction review are about checking your books against what actually happened in your bank account — a distinct job from bookkeeping itself. Pulling these out of Accounting and giving them their own home makes it clear when you're reviewing bank activity versus maintaining your ledger.
- Accounting — Chart of Accounts, Journal Entries, and Fixed Assets With banking-related tasks moved out, Accounting is now focused purely on the structural, behind-the-scenes bookkeeping: setting up accounts, recording entries, and tracking assets.
- Planning — Budgets A dedicated space for forward-looking financial work, separate from the day-to-day transactions in Sell, Spend, and Banking.
- Work — Projects and Documents Project-based work that supports the business but isn't itself a financial workflow.
- Payroll — Pay Runs, People & Contractors, and 1099 Filings Everything related to paying your team and contractors, including year-end filings, is grouped under one payroll workflow.
- People & Contractors now has its own place in the main navigation, rather than sitting inside a broader payroll workspace.
- Taxes — GST Filings A new, dedicated section for GST obligations, so tax filing has a clear home separate from general accounting.
Nothing was removed
No pages, features, or data have gone away — everything has simply moved to a more logical home. If you can't find something, check the section that matches the task you're trying to do, or use search to jump straight to it.
