Connecting Your Bank Account to COUNT (for NZ users)

Managing finances efficiently requires accurate and up-to-date data. COUNT makes this process seamless by allowing you to connect your bank account directly. This article will guide you through the steps of connecting your bank and importing your transaction history into COUNT.

Step 1: Navigating to Bank Connection Page

  1. Navigate to Settings > Bank Feeds.
  2. Click the “+ New Connection”
  3. You will see a connection pop-up when setting up your bank feed.
  4. Click Connect Account to continue.
  5. You will be guided through a secure connection process via Akahu to link your bank account. 



Step 2: Akahu Connection Process

  1. After clicking Connect Account, you will see a consent screen where you will be asked to securely authorize access via Akahu.
  2. You will be prompted to enter your email address. This email will be used to manage your connected accounts in the future.
  3. Email Verification Code: Akahu will send a verification code to the email address you provided. Check your email inbox (and spam/junk folder if needed) for the code.
  4. Enter Verification Code: Enter the code into the Akahu verification screen to confirm your identity and continue the setup process.




Step 3: Select Bank Accounts to Sync:

  1. After entering the verification code, you may be shown a list of available bank accounts linked to your institution. Select the specific account(s) you want to connect to COUNT. You can choose one or multiple accounts depending on how you manage your finances.
  2. If prompted, you may also be asked to assign each selected account to the appropriate account in your Chart of Accounts within COUNT to ensure transactions are categorized correctly.


**Step 4: **Once verified, Akahu will securely connect your selected bank account(s) to COUNT.


Step 5: Importing Transaction History

Once you've successfully connected your bank account, COUNT will prompt you to choose the timeframe for importing your transaction history. Here are the options available:

  • Do not sync any historical transactions - No past transactions will be imported. You can add them manually later if needed. 
  • Sync last 90 days of transactions - This choice imports your transactions for the past 90 days.
  • The first day of financial (April 1st) - Imports all transactions from April 1 of the current financial year to today. 
  • Sync all historical transaction available (this is often the last 24 months) - This selection imports all your historical transactions available, typically covering the last 24 months.




Step 6: Click "Connect" to Sync: Once you've chosen your preferred import timeframe, click the "Connect" button to initiate the synchronization process. COUNT will securely import your transaction history, allowing you to effortlessly track your finances.
