How to import trial balance into count
You can import a trial balance into COUNT using a CSV or Excel file. This is commonly used when setting up a new company or bringing opening balances from another accounting system.
A trial balance represents your account balances as of a specific date, and each row should represent one account.
Steps to Import a Trial Balance
- From the left-hand menu, click Accounting, then select Journal Entries.
In the top-right corner, click the import icon.

- On the upload screen, review the trial balance requirements:
- Each row should represent one account
- Your file must include an Account Name and either a Debit or Credit balance
- The first row of your file must contain column headers
- Enter the Header row number that contains the column headers in your file. COUNT will begin importing data from the row below the header.
- Upload your CSV or Excel file by dragging and dropping it into the upload area, or by clicking upload to select the file from your computer.
Once the file is uploaded, click Next.

- Review the column matching. Select the As of date. This date represents the point in time for the balances being imported, and all account balances will be recorded as of this date. Click Next.

- Review the row matching to confirm that the account names and balances are correct. When everything looks good, click Import.
When the import completes, you’ll see a confirmation message like this:
