How to import your Chart Of Accounts into COUNT

You can import your Chart of Accounts into COUNT using a CSV or Excel file. This is useful when migrating from another accounting system or setting up your workspace for the first time.

Follow the steps below to complete the import:

  1. From the left-hand menu, click Accounting, then click the import icon.
  2. Upload your file by dragging and dropping a CSV or Excel file, or by clicking upload to select it from your computer.

Make sure all accounts are in a single file and that the first row contains column headers.

Click Next to continue.

Note: The maximum file size allowed is 350KB.

  1. Review the column matching. In the file preview, you can view up to 50 rows of your imported file to cross-check the data while mapping columns. Any column that isn’t mapped (showing No match found) won’t be imported.

Once everything looks correct, click Next.

  1. Review the row matching. You’ll see a preview of all accounts that are ready to be imported. Click Next to start the import. A message will appear indicating that the account import is in progress. This process may take up to 2–3 minutes, please do not navigate away from the page.

Note: Some default accounts are required for COUNT’s automation features and cannot be deactivated.

Once the import is complete, you’ll see a confirmation message letting you know that your Chart of Accounts has been successfully imported.

ProTip: Before uploading your file, make sure your account types and sub-types match COUNT’s available options and that there are no duplicate account numbers. This helps prevent import errors and ensures a smoother setup.
