How to Merge Bank Accounts in Count

Merging bank accounts in COUNT allows you to consolidate duplicate or redundant accounts, ensuring your financial data stays clean and accurate. This is especially useful when the same bank account is connected multiple times, or when you want to unify transaction histories into one account.



Why use the Merge Bank Accounts feature?


  • Avoid duplicates Prevent confusion caused by having multiple instances of the same bank.
  • Cleaner reports Consolidating accounts provides more accurate financial reporting.
  • Save time Easier reconciliation and transaction management.



Steps to Merge Bank Accounts in COUNT


  1. From the left-hand navigation, click on Settings → Connected Banks. Here you’ll see all your currently connected bank accounts.
  2. Click on the + New Connection button to begin linking or managing accounts.
  3. A Plaid window will appear. Search for and select your bank (e.g., Chase).
  4. Depending on your bank, you may need to verify your identity by entering a code sent via text or email.
  5. Plaid may prompt you to save your bank login for faster future connections. You can either select Save or click Finish without saving.
  6. If COUNT detects that the bank account already exists, you’ll be prompted to either:
  • Proceed with New Connection (adds it as a brand-new account)
  • Choose Existing Connection (to merge and avoid duplicates)


Pro Tip It’s recommended to select Choose Existing Connection to keep your data clean.


  1. Choose which accounts you’d like to sync transactions from (e.g., Checking, Savings). Toggle the accounts on/off, then click Connect Accounts.
  2. COUNT will show you a summary of your connection, including the last synced transaction, account type, and balance.
  3. Review the details, then click Next to confirm.

Once confirmed, your accounts will appear under Connected Banks. If duplicates exist, COUNT will allow you to merge them into one account.



Pro tip: For cleaner reconciliation, always review transaction history before merging.
