How to Add and Import Taxes in COUNT

Whether you're managing a few tax rates or handling multiple jurisdictions, COUNT gives you the flexibility to add taxes manually or import them in bulk.

How to Add a Single Tax

  • From the left sidebar, navigate to Settings.

Open the Taxes Tab

  • Click on the Taxes tab to view your existing tax rates.

Add a New Tax

  • Click the Add a Tax button on the right side of the screen.
  • In the pop-up window, enter:
    • Tax Name (e.g. 1726 - SEATTLE, WA)
    • Tax Percentage (e.g. 15)

Save the Tax

  • Click Add to save the new tax to your workspace.

How to Import Taxes in Bulk

If you're migrating from another system or managing many tax rates, importing them via CSV is the fastest option.

Step-by-Step Guide:

Prepare Your CSV File

  • Your file must include a header row.
  • Required columns:
    • Tax Name
    • Description
    • Percentage

Go to the Import Page

Map the Columns

  • In the "Import Taxes" screen:
    • Enter the name of the column that holds your Tax Name.
    • Enter the column for Tax Percentage.
    • (Optional) Enter the column for Tax Description.

Upload Your File

  • Drag and drop your CSV file (max 350KB), or click upload to browse.

Import

  • Click the orange Import Taxes button in the bottom-right corner.

Once uploaded, your tax rates will be added to your COUNT workspace and ready to use.

Pro-tip: Use tax imports when onboarding new clients or setting up a practice with recurring regional tax rules—it’ll save you hours of manual entry.
