How to Undo Split Transactions in COUNT
If you’ve split a transaction but need to reverse it, COUNT makes it simple to undo your splits and get your original transaction back.
What Is a Parent Transaction?
When you split a transaction, the original transaction becomes the parent transaction. It holds the total amount and has a split icon on it in the Transactions table—this lets you easily identify which one to edit.
Steps to Undo a Split Transaction
Open the Transactions Tab
- Go to Transactions from the left sidebar.
Locate the Parent Transaction
- Find the transaction with the split icon. Only the parent transaction will have the split icon and the child transactions will be linked to it. Click it to open the transaction flyout on the right.
Edit the Splits
- Scroll down to where the splits are listed. Click any field to enable editing.
Delete the Splits
- Click the trash bin icon next to each split to remove them.
Update the Transaction
- Once all splits are deleted, click Update to save your changes. Your transaction is now restored to a single, unsplit transaction.
Note on Reconciled Transactions
If the transaction has already been reconciled:
- You’ll see the Admin Override: Change Transaction button in the flyout.
- Click this button to unlock editing for reconciled transactions.
- Only users with Accountant, Owner, or Admin roles can perform an Admin Override.
And that’s it! Your transaction is back to its original state and the child transactions linked to it will no longer be visible.
