Setting Up COUNT with the Launchpad (Start Fresh)
COUNT’s Launchpad provides an intuitive onboarding experience, helping you set up your workspace, import critical data, and get started efficiently. This guide will walk you through the onboarding steps in the correct sequence, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free setup process.
How Do You Want to Get Started?
When you open the onboarding flow, decide whether you want to create a new set of books or migrate existing accounting data.

Select option:
- Start Fresh: Create a clean set of books for a new business or a fresh start.
After selecting your preferred option, click Continue.
Review the Chart of Accounts
Choose the starting point for the workspace’s Chart of Accounts. You can use a recommended account list or build your own.

- Choose Let COUNT Build a Chart of Accounts or Desing or Import Your Own.
- Click Continue.
Connect Bank Accounts
Connect the accounts you want COUNT to keep in sync. Connections can also be added or changed later.

- Bank of New Zealand: Connect BNZ transaction accounts through a direct feed. New posted activity is checked daily.
- Akahu: Connect through New Zealand’s open finance platform, which supports more than 50 New Zealand institutions.
Select the appropriate connection method and follow the secure authorization prompts. To connect the bank later, click Skip for Now.
Invite Team Members
In this step, you can invite an accountant, bookkeeper, or other team members to collaborate in your COUNT workspace.

- Select Invite Accountant or Invite Team Member.
- Complete the invitation details and send the invitation when appropriate.
- Click Continue to proceed.
You can send invitations later if you’re not ready to grant access during onboarding.
Set Financial Preferences
Define how COUNT organizes the financial year and calculates reports. These settings can be updated later.

Financial Year
Select the first month of the financial year. COUNT uses this setting to organize reports and tax periods.
Default Reporting Basis
- Accrual Basis: Recognizes income and expenses when they are earned or incurred.
- Cash Basis: Recognizes income and expenses when money changes hands.
Review the selections, then click Save and Continue.
Take a Quick Tour
Select Continue to take a quick tour of COUNT and learn how to navigate the platform. If you prefer to explore the workspace on your own, select Skip tour.

Once you complete the tour, the onboarding process will be finished, and you’ll be taken directly to the COUNT dashboard
