How to manage Conversion Balances in COUNT
The Conversion Balances feature allows you to import your opening balances after completing your workspace setup. This gives you the flexibility to skip importing your trial balance, opening invoices, and opening bills during Launchpad and complete these steps later when you're ready.
Step 1: Access Conversion Balances
- Open your workspace.
- Go to Settings.
- Select Conversion Balances under Financials.

Step 2: Set the Conversion date and Import your trial balance
- Click Set the Conversion date

- Click Import Trial Balance.
- Upload your trial balance file.

- Review the imported balances and resolve any validation errors.

Step 3: Add opening invoices and bills (if required)
If your imported trial balance includes Accounts Receivable (AR) or Accounts Payable (AP) balances, you'll need to add the corresponding opening invoices and/or opening bills before you can publish your conversion balances.
- Open the Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable section.
- Click Add Opening Invoice or Add Opening Bill or import with CSVs.
- Repeat until the total value of your opening invoices and/or opening bills matches the corresponding Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable balances in your trial balance.

Step 4: Publish your conversion balances
Once you've reviewed your trial balance and added any required opening invoices or bills:
- Verify that your opening invoices and bills match the corresponding Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable balances in your trial balance.
- Click Publish Conversion Balances.
COUNT won't allow you to publish until the opening invoices and bills match the corresponding balances in your trial balance.
Edit your conversion balances
If you need to make changes after publishing:
- Open Settings > Conversion Balances.
- Update the required balances or opening transactions.
- Click Publish to republish your conversion balances.

Change your conversion date
If you change your conversion date after creating conversion balances, COUNT handles your data differently depending on whether you move the date backward or forward.
Move the conversion date backward
Moving the conversion date to an earlier date converts any existing opening invoices and bills into regular invoices or bills. There cannot be any other data in your workspace as COUNT prevents it from being created before the conversion date.
Move the conversion date forward
If you move the conversion date to a later date, any existing transactions dated on or before the new conversion date must be deleted before the date can be updated.
